I have a hard time making decisions for myself. No matter how big or small the decision, indecisiveness takes over and it can be paralyzing. Three years ago I was faced with the most difficult decision of my life so far – choosing between University courses.
After endless weeks of pondering the dilemma and going through the guide to all undergraduate programs and courses available a zillion times, I finally decided to pursue a degree in Communication Studies. All throughout my time at University, I had never felt like I knew for sure that this is what I wanted to do in life. But that all changed in the beginning of my summer holidays, when I was lucky enough to be called in for an interview – which completely changed my mindset.
Of course, being the panicky person that I am, I had countless negative thoughts racing through my head – telling me that I didn’t have what it takes to get the job.

I pulled myself together long enough to get through the interview and surprise, surprise: I did get the job!
Three months in and I can honestly say I’ve had the best experience ever! I’ve had the privilege of working shoulder to shoulder with the best in the business – from marketers and writers, to photographers and designers. I learned so much, perhaps more than any University could ever teach me.
I’ve also done some unexpected things along the way.

Yep. I was getting paid to sit on a toilet while holding a mic – my job’s awesome, isn’t it?
But most importantly, for once I feel I might have actually made the best choice possible for myself as this is definitely something I can see myself doing more of in the near future. I feel that this experience fueled me with a much needed confidence boost and a lot of self-belief.
Although my journey here at Switch is sadly coming to an end, I’ll carry the knowledge that I’ve gained with me throughout my studies and future career.
I’m going to miss working with these crazy bunch of people, the way they treat lunchtime like a relegious experience, the “Għidu ċajta” that runs like clockwork at 3:00 in the afternoon and other random bits-n-bobs that happen during the day that leave us gasping for air.
Hopefully this isn’t goodbye, but a see you soon.
